1973 Porsche Carrera RS 2.7 Coupe

Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance - Monterey, CA

Owner:  Maureen & Dick Moran, Irvine, CA

As Porsche’s competition ventures increased in scope as well as success, the 911 was developed by the factory into specially built race cars.  The year 1973 saw the campaigning of the 2.7-litre 911 RSR, and for homologation purposes the public was offered the 2.7 RS.  Built in limited numbers, the 2.7 RS offered fantastic performance and was quite competitive.  The car was stripped-down for weight savings and included racing bucket seats.  The 2.7 RS is also noteworthy as the first production 911 to sport a rear tail spoiler, in this case the shorter ducktail.  This particular example, originally delivered to a customer in France, is uniquely finished in its original Dalmatian Blue color.
